Fiesta de San Juan

The 23rd of June was a Christian festival in honour of St John the Babtist. It has been a rather busy week here for me at Lanza5star so I am a bit late in posting the pics for you all to see but better late than never! The festival is all about fire. It is the only day of the year that fires are permitted to be lit on the island. 'Bonfire Night'! Many families and friends joined together to make bonfires and prepare food for a good Bar B Q that evening. There were also larger scale fires and celebrations taking place throughout the island so that tourists could join in the celebrations too. There is always a good atmosphere on Bonfire night.
