Discover the Island La Graciosa!
After holidaying on Lanzarote for a good 10 years and then taking the plunge to come and live here 12 years ago, We Have finally done it!
We have finally visited the Island of La Graciosa and what an absolute beautiful experience it was too.
Taking the steady 45 minute drive from Puerto Del Carmen to Orzola and then boarding the ferry to take us on a 30 minute journey to visit this so peaceful Island.
With just a few people on the main beach relaxing in tranquillity, some other locals and tourists frequented the local cafetarias or restaurants for lunch to taste some of the best local fish that there is and served with Canarian potatoes and Red and Green Mojo. I think you could count the amount of Cafetarias and restaurants on one hand!
For those intending to make the experience a little longer than a day trip, there are also apartments available to rent here on this quaint little Island or for those really seeking an adventure, There is also an area of beach called Playa de 'El Salado' where you can pitch your tent for the night. To do this though, even though it is free, you do have to book your pitch in advance.
There are two mini markets on the Island and a pharmacy too for all your necessities.
I think what did it for me on this Island was the peacefulness and Tranquillity. Just getting away from everything for a day, taking in the scenery and enjoying a walk in the sandy streets. I thought it was amazing, No Tarmac, just sand!
